Marshall and Bryson Court

Marshall Bryson Court

Portland Green Student Village

Marshall Court

Another phase of the Portland Green Village, Marshall court is a 6 storey, L-shaped building containing 196 en-suite bedrooms.

The building was constructed on a remediated brown-field site, and built using a structural steel frame on piled foundations. A mixture of brick, rainscreen and render was used on the external façades, while the upper floors are being formed with composite metal decks and pre-cast concrete stairs.

Pre-fabricated shower pods were incorporated, and in keeping with the student accommodation built to date in Shieldfield, the building has energy efficient heat and power plants, and a BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’. This project had a programme of 74 weeks, and reached completion in August 2017.

Bryson Court

Bryson Court is the 4th Portland Green building constructed by Metnor, built to 7 storeys with 366 en-suite bedrooms.

A vibrant student hub was included at ground level, incorporating a small cinema room, laundry facilities and retails units facing Portland Road.

The development includes cycle storage, refuse stores, plant rooms, car parking, highway works and extensive landscaping. This building was also constructed to a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ standard, and was registered with the Considerate Constructors Scheme.

The structure of the building is similar to that of Marshall Court, and includes a green sedum roof to assist with rainwater attenuation and single ply sarnafil. This project had a programme of 91 weeks, with completion reached in August 2017.
