Portland Green Student Accommodation
This project comprised the design and build of an eight storey, steel framed student accommodation block consisting of 275 ensuite bedrooms. Two separate retail spaces were also provided to the ground floor which is currently let to Tesco and Subway. Metnor Construction provided a full turn-key service, which included all furniture, fixtures and fittings, beds, wardrobes, sofas, white goods and bathroom pods.
The project achieved BREEAM ‘Excellent’, ‘Secured by Design’ and ‘Considerate Constructors’ accreditation. The external elevations are brick with inset coloured panels with a white rendered finish to the inside walls facing an internal courtyard. The northern part of the building’s single ply membrane roof is Sedum Green roofing assisting in reducing rain water runoff and encouraging bio diversity. The project was completed in August 2013.
