Career talk provides inspiration to students

On Wednesday, Managing Director Chris Cant spoke to students of Newcastle Sixth Form College about his career, providing advice to those about to enter the workforce.

Chris talked in depth about his own experience from school and his early career, through to his current role of leading Metnor Construction – one of the fastest growing construction businesses in the North East. He offered his personal insight into the challenges facing anyone starting their career, demonstrating that persistence, a real work ethic and being prepared to stand out from the crowd all pay dividends in the world of employment.

Chris also provided an understanding of how companies such as Metnor Construction are embracing apprenticeship programmes to find young talent, and develop the best employees in the sector.

Metnor Construction works with Newcastle Sixth Form College as part of the North East LEP‘s Enterprise Adviser Programme; helping the Sixth Form to ensure students are prepared for the world of work and have insight into the career opportunities available to them.
