Constructing Excellence Awards

18/06/2017

On Friday June 16th, the thirteenth annual CENE Awards were held at the Newcastle Marriott Gosforth Park Hotel celebrating projects and individuals from the Built Environment. We were proud to have taken part in this years awards sponsoring the sustainability category.

We were featured on the night not only as category sponsors but shortlisted SME of the year. Over the last 2 years, we have experienced dramatic economic growth. In 2016 we achieved a turnover in excess of £61m and secured work to the value of £68m for 2017. The judges therefore decided they deserved recognition and presented us with a Special Award for Economic Growth.

Presented on the evening by Keith Bishop, Construction Lawyer &Partner at Muckle LLP, he said:“The judges were presented with a number of nominations for SME of the year, however one submission stood out as different to the others. Over the last 2 years, one company has experienced dramatic economic growth which has resulted in them no longer being eligible for this particular category. In this current economic climate that is a great achievement and testimony to the dedication of the whole team. For these reasons the judges have decided to present a special award for economic growth to Metnor Construction.”

Sustainability is at the heart of what we do in the North East. The winners of the Sustainability award demonstrated what can be achieved by embracing partnership working. It was the integration of partners, operatives and the public that was integral to develop this innovative scheme. The success of this project could not have been achieved without this collaborative work ethic and the team are keen to promote this to the wider industry.
